The project

CAV Solutions returned to St Mary’s to upgrade an installation originally supplied almost two decades earlier. Following a wider church reordering and new cable infrastructure, the AV upgrade was completed in the second quarter of 2023.

Video, projection and streaming

A Roland V8-HD production mixer provides separate control of in-house images and streaming output. Three cameras, including two motorised PTZ models, provide views of the main worship areas and entrances. New Epson laser projectors serve the main and side screens, with confidence displays for service leaders and musicians.

Clearer controls and wider connectivity

The existing speaker system was largely retained, while an Allen & Heath AHM-64 matrix system and AR2412 stagebox replaced the analogue mixer. IP8 fader controllers, labelled channels and presets support different operator experience levels. Sennheiser radio microphones and AKG ambient microphones feed the wider audio system. The adjacent meeting room includes a display and conferencing soundbar, while managed EnGenius Wi-Fi supports public, private and AV use.
